The great painter Chi Pai Shi gave to Noguchi
a painting
of grapes and pale narcissus blooms.
"Who says that flowers have no passion?"
the inscription queried.
The great master also gave him a seal,
which he kept with him the rest of his life.
"Painting, poem and seal
are of a single soul," one said.
"Ah," thought Chi Pai Shi
,
"It is a good day for painting crickets."
as he watched the boy disappear
into the dense morning fog,
continue poet's walk
